Event information

Artificial intelligence has entered our everyday lives faster than many of us have had time to understand it. We use it to write, study, translate, search for information and solve problems, while continuing to ask difficult questions. Can we trust its answers? Is it acceptable to use it at work or while studying? How might it affect our professions? What should our children learn for a future increasingly shaped by AI?

This free live session helps participants move from uncertainty and fragmented information towards clearer, more informed judgement. It is not primarily about learning how to use a particular tool. Its value lies in helping participants navigate the tensions between opportunity and risk, convenience and reliability, confidence and over-reliance, and technological change and human responsibility.

Through accessible explanations, everyday examples and guided discussion, participants will distinguish what AI can and cannot do, recognise situations in which its outputs need to be questioned or verified, and consider how it may influence work, education and everyday decision-making. The session will also create space to think about the knowledge, capabilities and forms of judgement that may become increasingly important for adults and children.
